About
We a community based organisation in the Highlands, covering Inverness-shire, Nairnshire, Badenoch and Strathspey. A new group, set up in July 2006 to offer support, information and advice to women, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced a violent or abusive relationship.

Our offices in Aviemore and Nairn are run by two paid workers and a small army of committed volunteers. We are open Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 4.30 pm and outside these hours, there is an emergency contact number available.
Based within a rural community, we are aware that not everyone who wants support is comfortable or able to contact a refuge. We also recognise that rural living has particular difficulties, especially for families living with violence or abuse. Our service aims to deal with those particular issues which impact greatly on the lives of the vulnerable people we work with.
Many of the women who work in our organisation have first hand experience of living with a violent or abusive partner or other family member. Consequently, our approach is one of compassion and understanding. A drop-in and appointment system is operation and visits can be arranged as we understand that transport is often a problem.

We can help with a wide range of problems and issues that may be a worry. Concerns with housing, finances, health, benefits, schooling, the police, social work, disability, mental health and employment can all add to the distress of living with violence. While we know our expertise and knowledge in these matters is somewhat limited, we can liaise with other local agencies to ensure that you get the support you need. Living with abuse drives down self esteem and confidence and this often results in feelings of worthlessness and isolation. We believe that emotional support is very important and we hope to supply that shoulder to cry on.
Above all, we are here for you and you will be our priority at all times.
